Florida Man Blocked From Opening His Front Door By Giant Alligator
Alligators have inhabited Florida’s marshes, swamps, rivers, and lakes for many centuries and have been found in all 67 counties. One Florida man recently found one outside of his front door.
A massive alligator blocked the entryway to an Odessa home near Tampa on May 11, resting on the welcome mat.
Video recorded by Edward Ferraro shows a large alligator curled up on his home’s front stoop.
“Just another day here in Tampa,” Ferraro says in the video posted by Fox 13.
“I heard a rustling at the door and assumed it was a delivery,” Ferraro told Storyful about initially finding the reptile. “He hung out for about 10 minutes and then got up and walked into the lake behind my home.”
In recent years, Florida has experienced tremendous human population growth.
Warm weather means Florida’s state reptile – the American alligator – is more active and visible. It’s also when people are enjoying the outdoors with their pets.
In April, an alligator was caught on video by Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, was strolling, slowly, through the Harrington Lake neighborhood in Venice.
“We’re guessing he was about 10 feet in length and boy, did he take his time making it back to the lake he came from,” said Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. “We can’t blame him just thinking about how heavy that tail must be.”
